Saša, Radikon Oslavje, 1LT
REGION: Oslavia, Friuli Venezia Giulia
GOOD TO KNOW: Oslavia is a small historical center, Italian is the “lingua franca” here, but German, Slovenian and an ancient dialect called Resian are also spoken. “Stanislao (Stanko) Radikon, the maverick in a land of mavericks, customized his bottles to have the perfect size: 500 ml for one person and 1lt for two people.
Its terroir was born from the fusion between the soil and the climate where the vines grows: on one side, thus, the soil, is made of the so-called “ponka.” “Radikon's” 11 hectares of vines were originally planted by Stanko's grandfather Franz Mikulus with the local favorite, the Ribolla Gialla grape. The name of the grape ‘Jakot’ is a creative way of the word ‘Tokaj’ spelled backwards, this comes from the fact that EU granted exclusive rights to the name ‘Tokaj’ to Hungary, leaving Italians in a dilemma.
TASTE Medium to full bodied orange wine, exotic and unique taste. Creaminess with oily orange and nut hints. In the mouth orange zest, dried apricote, dried herbs and nuts. Powerful wine, high mineralogy, long aftertaste.
