Il Picchio, Pian delle Querci Brunello di Montalcino DOCG

GRAPE 100% Sangiovese
REGION: Montalcino, Toscana

GOOD TO KNOW: Brunello means the little dark one, because this is how the producers in the area refer to this the Sangiovese Grossa, the darkest, fruitiest and smallest Sangiovese grape type. In 1963 Brunello was recognized as D.O.C. and in 1980 as D.O.C.G. This unique wine is made by a fourth generation “Pian della Querci” winery on the hills outside the medieval walled town of Montalcino. The Serbolino “Il Picchio” “the woodpecker” is recognized for delivering an extraordinary Brunello di Montalcino.
TASTE : dry, bold but yet smooth and structured Brunello, deep ruby color. On the nose red cherry and strawberries, in the mouth medium to full bodied, fruity, very tannic with a bright acidity.
